Choosing the Right Bed Skirt
Buying a great comforter set can really make a bedroom look nice, but adding a bed skirt really pulls everything together, giving your bed a more complete look. Bed skirts are used to cover the bed foundation and if you like to store things under the bed, it is a great way to hide it! The good thing about the skirts is that they add style and of course create a different feel in your room. You can visit the nearest home stores in your area or you can look online, which is much easier. It will save you time and at the same time, endless selections are just a click away. Bed skirts come in a variety of styles. There are tailored, ruffled, eyelet, poly/cotton, satin and split corner, so there is a lot to choose from. Not only do you need to decide on color, but there are other things to consider.
Before you buy, make sure that your bed is able to have a bed skirt. Bed skirts do not fit on some bed designs. Also make sure that you check the size of your bed so that you know the size skirt that you need to buy. Dont' just assume because you have a queen size bed that it is 60" wide by 80" long. No one wants to end up getting a bigger one on a small sized bed or a small sized skirt on a big bed. Try to measure it first before making a purchase. The next thing that you need to consider would be the drop. The drop is the length from the top of the foundation to the floor. You need to measure it too, because if you get a short measurement, it will look awful and if it is too long, then you could be tripping all over it, taking a chance that it may rip. A standard drop is 15", but also come in other sizes. And of course you need to pick the one with a great color combination, patterns and style. This will help you transform your room from being dull into something more pleasing to the eyes. You could also go for a softer look. For example, if you have either a light toned comforter or even something more vibrant, adding a white bed skirt can either create a softer look, or make a vibrant comforter stand out more.
As you can see, there are many things to consider, so it is so very important to do your homework before purchasing a bed skirt. Once you have found the perfect one, be sure to iron it before putting it on your bed, because it will give you a more professional look. Sweet dreams!
