Anyone have advice on co-sleeping?
I am having twins and planning to breast feed and probably co-sleep. I am a single mom and I will be working so I like the idea of family time at night and there is no husband to worry about feeling neglected. I have read the books but I don't understand a few things.
First, if I don't use an actual co sleeper does my bed need to be against a wall so babies don't roll off or how do I keep them from rolling? I have a full size bed and a queen size futon. We will be sleeping on either or both because of air conditioning issues.
Do I lay under the blankets and put them on top beside me or do I cover myself with a blanket but just not put it on them? Do I put them beside me laying same way as me or side by side eachother with their feet or heads facing me?
Any advice?
When I co-sleep with my daughter I get under my covers and swaddle her real tight in a blanket. Our bed isn't against the wall but there is no way they have the ability to roll over at that age. If you makes you feel more comfortable though you can do it. I had her laying parallel to me and if I were having twins I would probably lay them next to each other.
A Co-sleeper bed is a good investment though, it will be easier to get them to sleep away from you later on in their life because you can slowly move the bed away from your bed/room.
Breastfeeding is SO hard, and I can't even imagine it with twins! So, just don't give up is my advice to you. Do lots of reading and research about it so you can know what to expect and have a lactation consultant helping you.
